• Comedy without playing into racist or homophobic stereotypes
  
• Healthy heterosexual relationship without ever making Jake give any signs of being sick of his wife-to-be, they’re just happy dorks in love supporting one another. They didn’t get together through an argument and they didn’t hate one another going in takes notes CW!

Jake Peralta

• Is a huge movie nerd
  
• He’s Jewish and his family life wasn’t always stable
  
• Starts off really stubborn and unwilling to follow rules but grows as a person and a team player aka some of the best character development in tv today!
• Loves all of the squad and always tries to motivate people to do their best
• NOICE!!!!!!!!
• Playful and competitive
• Is supportive of his girlfriend’s goals and strengths, never belittles her or makes her feel like she has to choose between him and her work

This show tackles really problematic issues and completes stamps on them. Ever wonder where the “cool motive, still murder” meme is from?! They have tackled racial profiling, racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, bullying. The list goes on and on. 

It has canon lgbt characters who are well developed and their sexuality isn’t the main factor of their personality. The “will they, won’t they” relationship is developed naturally and both parties did not fall for one another at the same time. 

This show is so good and I would highly recommend watching it, I can assure you that you won’t regret it!
